Dr Khadija Mahmoud is a medical graduate of Imperial College London who has been a student of the Qurān for the last 17 years, taught by many teachers of trusted sanad.

Having balanced Qurānic studies alongside advanced academia, Khadija has experience of  prioritising the study of Qurān alongside a busy working schedule. As a Bristish-born woman, Khadija appreciates the challenge of grasping tajweed and strives to make understanding of tajweed theory and application accessible to non-Arabic speakers.

Khadija is currently undergoing a joint ijazaa in Hafs 'an Asim and Shoabah 'an Asim and has been teaching Quran for several years.

Khadija is currently the student of Sheikh Ayad Guemar who memorised the Qur’ān in the dialects of Warsh ‘an Nāfi’ and Hafs ‘an ‘Āsim under the authority of Al Muqri’ Sheikh Yakhlef Charrati of Algeria. 

She previously studied under, and completed a khatma of the Qurān in Hafs an' Asim with Ustādha Amal Faik Abdulrahman Al-Hadithi who has over 20 years of experience in teaching the Qur’ān and holds Ijāza in the narration of Hafs ‘an ‘Āsim.

"As a person who was always driven academically and fortunate to be sent to Qurān classes at the early age of 6, I always wanted to excel in both. As much as I cared for topping the class, I also wanted to be able to recite my Qurān well and complete it's memorisation. Being fortunate enough to be surrounded by other students and teachers of the book of Allah, I was amazed and excited by the beautiful recitations and qiraas they held. I realised my first khatma (completion) of the Qurān was the very beginning of this journey of learning and falling in love with the word of Allah. But the last few years of perfecting my tilawaa and memorisation also served to reveal to me the role of a teacher in a student's journey as they study the most sacred and best of speech ever. As a student of the Qurān, I began to realise that a teacher's place in our hearts as students is truly one that cannot be replaced with anyone or anything. SubhaanAllah, these are people who Allah has chosen as the 'best of you (us)' says our dear Prophet peace be upon him.

As I embark on this great responsibility and privilege of teaching the book of Allah to my students, I hope to be one worthy of carrying this honour."

Ustadha Amna Mohammed is a medical doctor and mother. Having over 10 years of experience teaching tajweed,  Dr Amna has graduated tens of women in perfecting their qiraa in Hafs 'an Asim.

As a mother and previously practising doctor, Dr Amna knows what balancing Qurānic studies with life can look like across both personal and academic aspects. She is extremely vigilant and attentive with her students and prioritises their advancement.
